Scale of Fees for Eye-Care Services

Comprehensive Initial Consultation

Our standard fee for a Comprehensive Initial Consultation is $90.00. This consultation is defined by Medicare as the first in a new course of treatment. This may be the very first time we see you for a consultation as a new patient, or it may be the start of a new course of treatment for an existing patient (as determined by Medicare regulations). For Pensioners and Health Care Card holders we charge a discounted fee of $75.00. Our fees are significantly less than the recommended fee of $110.00 by Optometry Australia. All Australian citizens are eligible for a rebate from Medicare for this service. Subject to Medicare eligibility the rebate is usually $56.80, otherwise a minimum rebate of $28.45 applies. We can usually process this rebate for you directly on line here at the practice, eliminating the need to have to go to a Medicare office and the filling out of forms and standing in lines waiting to be served. The rebate is usually deposited back into your bank account by Medicare directly within a couple of working days.

Subsequent Consultations and Brief Initial Consultations

Our standard fee for a Subsequent or Brief Initial Consultation is $60.00. These consultations are defined by Medicare as being less than 15 minutes in duration. For Pensioners and Health Care Card holders we charge a discounted fee of $50.00. Our fees are significantly less than the recommended fee of $73.00 by Optometry Australia. All Australian citizens are eligible for a rebate from Medicare for this service. Subject to Medicare eligibility the rebate is $28.45. We can also usually process this rebate for you directly on line here at the practice, eliminating the need to have to go to a Medicare office and the filling out of forms and standing in lines waiting to be served. As with all Medicare rebates, the refund is usually deposited back into your bank account by Medicare directly within a couple of working days.

Visual Field Examinations

Our standard fee for a Visual Fields Examination is $80.00. These consultations are defined by Medicare as being to check the Peripheral Vision of both eyes individually. For Pensioners and Health Care Card holders we charge a discounted fee of $65.00. Our fees are significantly less than the recommended fee of $110.00 by Optometry Australia. All Australian citizens are eligible for a rebate from Medicare for this service. Subject to Medicare eligibility the rebate is $54.20. We can also usually process this rebate for you directly on line here at the practice, eliminating the need to have to go to a Medicare office and the filling out of forms and standing in lines waiting to be served. As with all Medicare rebates, the refund is usually deposited back into your bank account by Medicare directly within a couple of working days.

Digital Retinal Photography

Our standard fee for Retinal Photography is $45.00. This procedure is not covered by Medicare. For Pensioners and Health Care Card holders we charge a discounted fee of $40.00.

Optical Coherence Tomography

Our standard fee for OCT is $95.00. This procedure is not covered by Medicare. For Pensioners and Health Care Card holders we charge a discounted fee of $85.00.

Corneal Topography

Our standard fee for Corneal Topography is $45.00. This procedure is not covered by Medicare. For Pensioners and Health Care Card holders we charge a discounted fee of $40.00.

Corneal Foreign Body Removal

Our standard fee for Corneal Foreign Body Removal is $100.00. These consultations are defined by Medicare as being to remove metallic foreign bodies from the cornea at the front of the eye. For Pensioners and Health Care Card holders we charge a discounted fee of $90.00. Our fees are significantly less than the recommended fee of $120.00 by Optometry Australia. All Australian citizens are eligible for a rebate from Medicare for this service. Subject to Medicare eligibility the rebate is $61.35. We can also usually process this rebate for you directly on line here at the practice, eliminating the need to have to go to a Medicare office and the filling out of forms and standing in lines waiting to be served. As with all Medicare rebates, the refund is usually deposited back into your bank account by Medicare directly within a couple of working days.

Lacrimal Lavage

Our standard fee for Lacrimal Lavage is $45.00. This procedure is not covered by Medicare. For Pensioners and Health Care Card holders we charge a discounted fee of $40.00.

Blephex Eyelid Hygiene

Our standard fee for Blephex Microblepharoexfoliation is $190.00. This procedure is not covered by Medicare.

Keratograph and Dry Eye Assessment

Our standard fee for Dry Eye Assessment, which includes Keratograph Assessment is $60.00. This consultation  may be rebateable by Medicare if it is separate to other Medicare related rebates and on a separate day to those. Subject to Medicare eligibility the rebate is $28.45. We can also usually process this rebate for you directly on line here at the practice, eliminating the need to have to go to a Medicare office and the filling out of forms and standing in lines waiting to be served. As with all Medicare rebates, the refund is usually deposited back into your bank account by Medicare directly within a couple of working days.

Intense Pulse Light Meibomian Gland Treatment

Our standard fee for each session of IPL Treatment is $200.00. Three treatments are necessary for this procedure to be therapeutically beneficial, so this is usually bundled together as three treatments for $600.00. This procedure and other Dry Eye Therapy in-office procedures are generally not covered by Medicare. Other consultation items if performed in addition to these treatments may attract Medicare rebates however, as per some of the other items described above.

Contact Lens Consultations – Standard Daily Wear

Our standard fee for a series of visits in relation to Standard Daily Wear Uncomplicated Contact Lens Fitting is $200.00. For Pensioners and Health Care Card holders we charge a discounted fee of $170.00. This does not include the fees for the supply of the contact lenses. Our fees are significantly less than the recommended fee of $279.00 by Optometry Australia. Medicare have a complex system of rebates and eligibility for these consultations. Many of these consultations are not covered by Medicare. Where Medicare does provide rebates for these consultations the rebate is usually $140.95. We can also usually process this rebate for you directly on line here at the practice, eliminating the need to have to go to a Medicare office and the filling out of forms and standing in lines waiting to be served. Our standard fee for a series of visits in relation to Complicated Daily or Extended Wear Contact Lens Fitting is $300.00. For Pensioners and Health Care Card holders we charge a discounted fee of $260.00. This does not include the fees for the supply of the contact lenses. Our fees are significantly less than the recommended fee of $446.00 by Optometry Australia. Medicare have a complex system of rebates and eligibility for these consultations. Many of these consultations are not covered by Medicare. Where Medicare does provide rebates for these consultations the rebate is usually $177.85. We can also usually process this rebate for you directly on line here at the practice, eliminating the need to have to go to a Medicare office and the filling out of forms and standing in lines waiting to be served. As with all Medicare rebates, the refund is usually deposited back into your bank account by Medicare directly within a couple of working days.

Ortho-Keratology Program

Our standard fee for a series of visits in relation to the fitting of Ortho-Keratology Contact Lenses is $2000.00. For Pensioners and Health Care Card holders we charge a discounted fee of $1900.00. This includes the fees for the supply of the contact lenses and any contact lens exchanges for the subsequent six months. Medicare have a complex system of rebates and eligibility for these consultations. Many of these consultations are not covered by Medicare. Where Medicare does provide rebates for these consultations the rebate is either $140.95 or $177.85. We can also usually process this rebate for you directly on line here at the practice, eliminating the need to have to go to a Medicare office and the filling out of forms and standing in lines waiting to be served. As with all Medicare rebates, the refund is usually deposited back into your bank account by Medicare directly within a couple of working days.

Scleral Contact Lens Program

Our standard fee for a series of visits in relation to the fitting of Scleral Contact Lenses is $2000.00. For Pensioners and Health Care Card holders we charge a discounted fee of $1900.00. This includes the fees for the supply of the contact lenses and any contact lens exchanges for the subsequent six months. Medicare have a complex system of rebates and eligibility for these consultations. Many of these consultations are not covered by Medicare. Where Medicare does provide rebates for these consultations the rebate is either $140.95 or $177.85.
